Sebastiaan Waanders is the leader of ECTM, the excellence program of the UT with regard to Healthcare. He has graduated as a physicist in the field of electromagnetics in Twente. He applies his knowledge of Electromagnetics in the biomedical context of Neuro-Imaging.
His main talk is about the new way of training surgeons. From the former way, a master-apprentice structure, to the new way of simulated trainings. A major part is why Virtual Reality is so effective, both in terms of costs and time. Another part is the use of Virtual/Augmented reality to guide surgeons during the actual surgery. This might prevent deadly diseases like cancer from recidivism. But there is more in store for you, so be sure to attend.
